Sunju Patel is Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Montford Group, a principal-led real estate private equity platform with approximately $1.5 billion in assets under management focused on hospitality acquisitions, adaptive reuse, and ground-up development.
Patel co-leads the firm’s investment strategy, origination, and capital formation, and oversees the team across acquisitions, construction, development, and the company’s overall growth and vision. He brings more than 20 years of hospitality industry experience spanning ownership and sponsorship, with particular expertise in brand relations, capital structure, and construction and development—including brand relationships spanning Marriott, Hilton, Hyatt, and numerous other leading global hospitality platforms, and luxury and lifestyle developments currently in execution across the Southeast.
An entrepreneur throughout his career, Patel founded The Montford Group in 2017 in Charleston, South Carolina, building a portfolio spanning hotel, office, and retail assets across the Southeast, and in 2022 combined the platform to form Montford Group—growing the firm to its current $1.5 billion in assets under management.
