Japen Patel

Japen Patel is the Director of Accounting at Montford Group, where he oversees the firm’s asset accounting, financial planning, and tax reporting across its real estate portfolio. He brings a well-rounded background in financial management, having previously led investment portfolio management and financial reporting functions at national organizations before joining Montford Group.

In his role, Patel manages the company’s asset accounting, financial planning, and tax reporting requirements across its real estate entities—spanning financial planning and analysis, tax reporting and cost segregation, asset management, and financial reporting and compliance. During construction phases, he takes a hands-on role overseeing project disbursements, monitoring construction loan activity, and managing cost segregation work to support accurate, tax-efficient reporting.

Prior to joining Montford Group, Patel spent several years at Invesco, where he managed client investment portfolios while coordinating financial reporting for a client base of more than 10,000 individuals—experience that shaped the rigorous, detail-oriented approach he brings to financial planning and reporting today. He also oversaw financial reporting and recordkeeping for Kaplan KICNA Southwest at Kaplan Inc.

Patel holds a BBA in Accounting from Kennesaw State University. Beyond his career in finance, he is a lifelong cricket player who reached the highest level of the sport, representing the USA National Cricket Team for more than seven years—a reflection of the same discipline and dedication he brings to his professional work.
